- הַתָּרָהf. (נָתַר Hif.) 1) untying, loosening. Y.Yeb.XII, 12c, a. e. ה׳, or הַתָּיַת הרצועות the untying of the shoe strings by the brothers wife, v. חֲלִיצָה. Sot.I, 16c bot. ה׳ הסינר loosening of the pantaloons; a. e. 2) (= חֶיתֵּר) permission, declaring permitted. Y.Sabb.XVII, 16a bot. קודם להַתָּרַת כלים prior to the passage of the law permitting the handling of tools on the Sabbath (Mish. XVII, 1); Bab. ib. 123b.
